Cynthia Butler

Phenomenal Woman in Politics and Community Service


Cynthia Butler was elected to the office of Richton Park Village Trustee April 1999, representing 20 years of public service. Cynthia is the mother of two (2) adult sons and grandmother to three (3), two (2) grandsons and one (1) granddaughter. She holds a Bachelor degree in Business Administration. Cynthia retired from CNA Insurance in 2010 after 31 years of service. She retired from the profession of Information Technology Management with experience including roles as Director, Application Development Manager, Resource Manager, Project Manager and Developer.

Cynthia has always been involved in the community where she resides. Before being elected as a Trustee, she was a Park and Recreation Commissioner for many years. She was also the founding member of the Lincoln Crossing Homeowner Association and its first President. During the time that her children were growing up, she coached baseball in both Richton Park and Park Forest. During the early years of the Richton Park Raiders, she held positions of Treasurer, concession stand manager and Team Mom. Cynthia was an active parent in all sports and activities that her children participated in, including but not limited to Basketball, Soccer, Baseball, Football, Wrestling, Theater and Chess.

Cynthia is currently involved with several organizations, Friends of the Richton Park Library; Treasurer, League of Women Voters of Park Forest (LWVPF); Director, Rich Township Democratic Organization (RTDO); Treasurer, Member of the South Suburban Diversity Dinner committee and Vice-President of the Lakewood Homeowners Association. Cynthia attends Victory Apostolic Church in Matteson, IL and serves on several ministries.

Cynthia is very honored to have the privilege of serving the residents of Richton Park for the last 20 years and being involved in the listed organizations.
